Mixing
Your stems get balance, depth and a finish that translates on headphones and speakers — mixed in our control room on Haarlemmerweg by an engineer who treats your references as brief, not decoration.

A mix decides whether drums punch, vocals stay forward and bass survives a phone speaker. At Nanigolixar we mix sessions recorded here and material tracked elsewhere, as long as you deliver clean multitracks.
Thijs Bakker, our head audio engineer, works on a 32-fader console with monitoring calibrated per job. You do not have to attend in person: many artists review at home with structured notes. Prefer to sit in? Book a session — reach us on 020 785 42 16 or [email protected].
Process
- 01
Brief
You send stems, tempo, reference tracks and notes on tone and dynamics. Within 2 business days we confirm scope, price and schedule.
- 02
Technical intake
We check sample rate, clipping, naming and sync. Minor edits are handled; major issues are discussed before mixing starts.
- 03
Mix pass
Balance, EQ, compression, space and automation. You receive a listening version (MP3 or streaming link) with clear timestamps for feedback.
- 04
Delivery
After approval we export the final mix as WAV (and optional stems). Files stay in our archive for 12 months.
Who this mixing service is for
We mix for solo artists, producers, bands and labels that want a neutral second set of ears in Amsterdam. Streaming singles, five-track EPs or full albums — the scale changes, the goal does not: a coherent sound that fits your genre without cookie-cutter processing.
Only rough mixes from a home setup? Fine, if every track is clean and buses are not crushed. Bands that booked band recording here often supply sessions directly; others export from Logic, Ableton, Pro Tools or Reaper. Unsure about your files? Read our mixing budget guide or get in touch.
Delivering multitracks
Supply WAV files, preferably 24-bit 48 kHz (or your project rate). Export each instrument and vocal from the same start point, without master-bus processing you do not intend to keep. Use clear names: Drums_Kick, Vox_Lead, Gtr_Rhythm_L.
- Include a tempo map or BPM and note tempo changes if any.
- Send an instrumental rough mix plus two reference tracks (for direction, not cloning).
- Mark optional tracks (ad-libs) versus must-keep parts.
- Large projects: zip or cloud link; we confirm receipt in writing.

Workflow in the control room
We start with gain staging and a static balance before effects. Drums and bass usually anchor the mix; vocals and hooks get space next. We check on monitors, headphones and small speakers — where many listeners end up.
The studio has 3 rooms; mixing happens in the isolated control room, separate from the 45 m² live room. That keeps noise down and gives Thijs room for automation. If vocals still sound weak, we may suggest vocal recording in our iso booths — mixing rarely fixes a poor capture.
Revisions and feedback
Each Mixing price includes 2 revision rounds after the first pass. Batch feedback by timestamp: level, tone, problem frequencies. Messages sent outside Mon–Fri 09–23, Sat 10–20, Sun closed are answered on the next business day.
Extra rounds beyond the package are billed hourly with a prior quote. If notes conflict with your references, we say so — sometimes the issue is arrangement, not EQ. Terms and conditions cover delivery, payment and rights in the mix work.
Delivery and handoff
The approved mix is delivered as 24-bit WAV with headroom for mastering (typically a few dB below 0 dBFS). On request we also export stems: drums bus, music bus, vocal bus — useful for DJ sets or remixes.
Download links remain available while the project sits in our 12-month archive. Keep your own backup; after that window files are deleted per privacy policy. Export questions are covered in the budget guide.
Mix rates (VAT included)
Listed amounts are consumer prices including 21% VAT. Business (B.V.) invoices are excl. VAT where applicable, with 14-day payment terms.
| Package | Scope | Price incl. VAT |
|---|---|---|
| Single / track | One finished mix, typical pop/track length | €290 |
| EP | Up to five tracks, one coherent sound | €990 |
| Album | Up to ten tracks, sequence and level aligned | €1,750 |
More than ten tracks or stem delivery for every song? Request a quote via contact. Deposit 30% on booking; free cancellation up to 5 days before the scheduled start.
Not included in the mix fee
Vocal editing and tuning, drum replacement, sound design from scratch, sample clearance and mastering sit outside the standard mix rate. Re-exporting stems because a project file corrupted on your side is also billed separately when the fault is not ours.
If we need extra vocal recording or band recording to salvage a track, we quote that as session time, not as a revision. Up-front clarity avoids invoice surprises — see also FAQ.
After the mix: mastering and release
A mix is nearly release-ready; mastering sets the final step for streaming, download or vinyl. Our mastering service follows the level we agree at export. If you use an external mastering engineer, tell us your loudness target.
Questions about rights on recordings and mixes? Session rights overview helps when several writers or producers are involved. For contractual detail, terms remain authoritative.

FAQ
How long does a mix take?
A single track is usually scheduled within five to ten business days after complete delivery, depending on load. EPs and albums are blocked in batches; we confirm dates at intake.
Do I need to be in the studio?
No. Many clients review at home and email notes. If you want to attend in the control room, book a slot via contact during Monday–Friday 09:00–23:00, Saturday 10:00–20:00, Sunday closed (night sessions on request)..
Do you mix genres beyond pop?
Yes: hip-hop, electronic, jazz, rock and singer-songwriter when references are clear. Niche subgenres are discussed in the brief so expectations match.
What if my stems are out of sync?
Small shifts are fixed within reason. Large sync issues pause the job until you re-export — that avoids hours of guesswork on our side.
Can you master after the mix?
Yes, via mastering as a follow-up. We align the mix export with what the mastering stage needs, in-house or external.
