Vocal recording
Lead vocals, backing parts and ad-libs in one of our 2 iso booths, with an engineer who listens with you and keeps the session calm.

Listeners notice the voice first and forgive it least. At Nanigolixar in Amsterdam we therefore start by listening: how you sound today, which consonants need care, and whether your guide still matches the instrumental. Only when the headphone mix feels right do we roll takes.
You might book for a single, a chorus you cannot nail at home, harmonies for a band project, or a demo for a publisher. Bring a finished beat, exported DAW stems, or just lyrics and a guitar — we adapt. For home prep, see our vocal prep guide.
Process
- 01
Brief
Send tempo, key, lyrics and your instrumental or stems. We hold the booth and engineer and confirm within 2 business days.
- 02
Setup
Mic shoot-out, pop filter, headphone mix and gain staging. Allow fifteen to thirty minutes before the first take counts.
- 03
Record
Full passes, then targeted retakes per section or ad-lib. We flag takes so comping stays fast later.
- 04
Handoff
Comping, basic edits and WAV stem export on session day. We keep archives 12 months; you keep your own backups.
Who books vocal time
Solo artists tightening a chorus, rappers on a mixtape schedule, songwriters who need a clean demo, and band members adding vocals after a band session. Producers who sing themselves but want a neutral engineer in the room also book half-day blocks.
We work in Dutch or English in the studio; your lyrics can be any language. Guests in the control room are welcome within what scheduling allows — more than 8 people on site needs a quick heads-up.
Mic choice and booth
The vocal booth is isolated from the live room and control room, so no drum or amp bleed lands on your track. We usually compare two or three microphones on the same phrase: a condenser for detail, sometimes a dynamic for loud passages or rap, depending on your tone.
Distance, height and pop filter shape how much EQ we need later. You hear each change in your headphones and see the engineer through the window — useful if you move while you sing.
Headphone mix and comfort
You get a personal monitor mix: more or less vocal, instrumental, click or a touch of reverb. Ask for tweaks between takes; an uncomfortable mix tightens the throat and hurts pitch.
Water, lyric stands and adjustable light are ready. Breaks are part of the plan — vocal folds fatigue quickly. Minimum age to book alone is 16; younger artists need written guardian consent and an adult on site.
Backings, stacks and ad-libs
Map harmonies before you arrive: which lines double, where an octave sits, which ad-libs follow the hook. We record each layer to its own clearly named track so mixing stays orderly.
Stacks often combine a tight double and a wider layer at a different mic position. Ad-libs live on a dedicated track so you can ride them in the mix without touching the lead.
What to bring and what we supply
Bring your instrumental as WAV (without a guide vocal if it is no longer needed), lyrics, reference tracks whose vocal tone you like, and your own in-ears if you rely on them. Note BPM and key in your message to [email protected].
We supply mics, preamps, DAW, headphones, pop filters and an engineer for the booked time. Mixing, mastering and heavy tuning are separate services — light pitch help on specific phrases can be discussed within session time if you ask.
Delivery, formats and turnaround
Default delivery is 24-bit WAV at 48 kHz, aligned to bar one with your instrumental. Other sample rates are fine if your project requires them — mention it when booking. You receive a download link or can copy to your own drive.
Comping usually happens on session day when time allows; otherwise we schedule a short follow-up. Raw takes without selection are available if you prefer to comp yourself. Sessions stay on our servers 12 months, then delete unless you request extension via contact.

FAQ
How long for one single?
For a three- to four-minute track with lead, doubles and a few ad-libs, most artists plan two to four hours. A half day leaves room for multiple songs or relaxed comping.
Can my producer sit in?
One or two people in the control room is typical. Larger groups need a quick plan so everyone can hear without distracting the booth.
Do you tune and time-align vocals?
Light pitch or timing help can happen in session by agreement. Heavier editing belongs to mixing and is outside standard vocal booking.
Evening sessions?
Monday–Friday we are open until 23:00, Saturday until 20:00. Night sessions on request — note your preference when you book.
What if I am ill on the day?
Tell us as early as you can. Within 5 days we move the date at no charge; after that, terms and conditions apply to deposits and cancellation.
