Why format matters before and after
We record at high resolution so edits stay clean. Publication usually needs a smaller, normalized file. Wrong choices — double-compressed MP3 or low sample rate — show up as haze or dull transients. Re-encoding an already compressed MP3 for upload is a common mistake hosts make after editing at home.
Our podcast room runs multiple mics with monitoring per voice. 24 inputs cover guests without adapter chaos. We agree formats at intake, not only at export, so your editor knows what arrives in the inbox.
Default session exports
Typically you receive an edited stereo mix as WAV 24-bit/48 kHz plus MP3 320 kbps for quick review. Per-mic multitrack is available on request as a separate zip — useful for later DAW edits. Mention this when booking so time and disk are planned.
Filenames follow your scheme: showname_s01e04_mix.wav. We do not embed intro music unless you confirm rights; see session rights for music and samples.
Loudness for NL and EU platforms
Streaming hosts normalize around −14 LUFS integrated for stereo shows, true peak near −1 dBTP. We aim there unless you specify a stricter broadcast profile. Mixing louder does not help; the upload turns it down anyway.
Video-first shows (YouTube, TikTok) may need a different target — name the platform. Check on headphones and a small speaker; many Amsterdam listeners commute on earbuds.
Mono, stereo and remote guests
In-room interview: stereo mix with hosts panned or centred to taste. Remote via Riverside, SquadCast or Zoom? Record locally when possible; otherwise supply synced remote WAV. Long sync jobs are not open-ended — quote remote segments upfront.
Video podcasts sometimes capture audio only with us; video happens elsewhere. Export a sync clap or timecode marker so editors align fast.
Metadata and ID3
MP3 tags (title, show, episode) usually live in your hosting tool, not our mix export. Embedded artwork? Send square PNG and copy via contact. We are not a podcast host; you upload to Transistor, Spotify for Podcasters or your RSS.
Keep raw multitracks until the episode is live. Our archive holds sessions 12 months; longer retention needs agreement and may add storage cost in the quote.
Studio time and rates
Podcast recording is €95 per hour incl. 21% VAT, or €378 for four hours. That covers engineer, mics, basic edits and standard export — not season-long fine editing in one block. Extra post is quoted separately.
Book via contact; reply within 2 business days. Free cancel up to 5 days ahead. FAQ covers payment and VAT invoices.
Technical checklist
- Decide upfront: stereo mix only or multitrack too.
- Keep sample rate consistent (48 kHz recommended for video).
- Leave true peak headroom; avoid limiter pumping.
- Clear jingle rights before export.
- Back up after downloading our link.
Unsure on bitrate? Send a current episode; we listen and advise without a sales pitch.
